So October and spooky season is one of my favorite times of year and I wanted to share some of my upcoming reads for the upcoming month. Maybe you all would want to read them to, because remember one good scare does everybody good.

So I have quite a stack ready to go for next month and I'll break it down by category:
The Paleontologist by Luke Dumas (Audiobook)
So technically I've already started this one, the best way I can describe this is if the Night at the Museum movies were remade by Stephen King and Michael Crichton. I always like listening to horror audiobooks because I feel like the narrator can help add to the atmosphere. The story follows Simon who returns to the museum where his half-sister disappeared many years ago. This is my second time reading a book by Dumas so I hope Simon will have a bit of a happier ending than his other protagonist in his other book History of Fear. No one likes a copy and paste protagonist, especially if they just suffer.
Exquisite Corpses by James Tynion IV (Graphic Novel/Comic)
So I'm trying to keep off the internet to avoid spoilers for this one. I've only read the first issue, but I was absolutely blown away and needing to know more. I feel like it really speaks to an author's ability if they're able to hook you in the first issue/chapter. The premise is about thirteen rich families who hold a bloody competition every five years in a different small town in America. Each family has a killer represent them and the killers are set loose in the small town to see who the best of the best amongst them is. Of course, the residents of the small town are in the dark and now are forced to survive one bloody Halloween night.
Ripperland by Steve Orlando (Graphic Novel/Comic)
I wanted to pick this up after my trip to London back in December, the legend of Jack the Ripper has always fascinated me. The premise is somewhat dystopian where in order to make money again after Brexit, the entirety of England has been turned into a massive Victorian London theme park. Of course, when you go to relive the past, all of it comes back you do not get to choose what parts you acknowledge. It's up to two detectives, one American and one Brit, to catch this new Ripper before it's too late. It also helps that I really love this comic book writer, don't be shocked if y'all see an author spotlight on Steve Orlando soon.
Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay (Book), How to Make a Horror Movie and Survive by Craig DiLouie (Book), Schrader's Chord by Scott Leeds (Book)
I'm putting these three together since these are all brand new books to me. I have never read any of these authors, so I have little to no expectations which I guess is great. That way I can just let everything come naturally when I'm reading these books. I always hate it when a book doesn't turn out the way based on my expectations before reading the book so these will be good. Just by the covers I would say the title I'm looking forward to is Schrader's Chord. The cover looks insane with the whole half skull half vinyl record.
I can't wait to get into these titles and I hope if any of these intrigued you to pick them up. Happy Halloween everybody!!!
