Hello everyone, I wanted to make my first official post on here highlighting one of my favorite authors right now. This will probably be the first of many author spotlights going forward. I am talking about Olivie Blake today! I will add in a disclaimer now that my spotlight posts may contain minor spoilers for the books that I have read by that author.

She has quickly become one of my "auto-buy" authors and I was lucky enough to get an ARC of her new book coming in October called Girl Dinner.
The Books I have read by Olivie Blake include
The Atlas Six
The Atlas Paradox
The Atlas Complex
Gifted and Talented
Girl Dinner

The thing that I love about her work are her characters. I am a sucker for engaging characters whether I love them or hate them, and she always delivers!! I think her most impressive was with Callum Nova from her Atlas series, he was utterly intolerable in Book 1, and I just kept thinking with every page oh my god when are they going to get rid of this guy? However, when Book 2 came out he had quite a big heel turn and quickly became one of my favorite characters. I was absolutely shocked to have had my reaction change on him throughout the second book, but she made it work.
Other good examples are the Wren siblings from Gifted and Talented; I absolutely love messy family dynamics. I feel like it helps some of the conflicts in the plot feel a bit more natural and not so forced. I mean come on every family fights about something, no one is perfect some people are just hiding it better than others. I won't go too much into her new book Girl Dinner but I will just say that it falls into the Horror genre and not her usual Fantasy, and that Sloane is the much better developed character.
I definitely recommend any of Olivie Blake's books, she has several other books out not just the ones I have read and has contributed to many anthologies for various subjects. Hope you guys enjoyed and stop by later to see where the spotlight lands next.
