Back to back, here is the final post in regard to holiday recommendations! Hope everyone found this helpful and gets into some great new reads this holiday. I wanted to end this little series of posts with a little something for everyone so for the final post I'm sharing my final four recs: one for fiction, mystery, romance, and sci-fi/fantasy.

For Fiction: Dear Dickhead by Virginie Despentes

Now this book can be a little dry at times, but I absolutely loved it for how messy it was. The two main characters have a respect for each other but an even deeper hatred for each other. The story follows an internet troll who gains the attention of a movie star who is dealing with issues of ageism in the entertainment. From there the book becomes very reminiscent of the TV show Beef as the two main characters get so dead set on taking each other down that they ignore everything else happening around them. It was fascinating to see this toxic till the end dynamic and would read again in a heartbeat.

For Mystery: Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle

Ok so this is kind of cheating since this is a horror book. I'm bending the rules because it was so good, I also listened to this as an audiobook which definitely is the best way to experience this book. The story follows Micah, a writer in Hollywood who is told to kill off the two main characters of his tv show to which he declines and pays the price. From there we get taken on a crazy next five days as Micah is pursued and hunted down by seemingly real versions of villains and creatures from his previous horror projects. This was such a wild ride, and I hope everyone reads this to see if Micah makes it to the end.

For Romance: Most Wonderful by Georgia Clark

Now I did talk about this book in a previous post, but I had to bring it back for the holiday season. This story follows the three siblings of the Belvedere family as they reunite for the holidays and bring all their drama with them. I love messy sibling dynamics, and I think this is a perfect holiday read. Clark does a great job managing the three siblings and making sure all three have their arc handled well and, they all get their happy ending. Who doesn't love a happy ending right? :)

For Sci-Fi/ Fantasy: Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman

ree

This will definitely not be the last post you see about the Carl series, as now that the series has been traditionally published it has swept the country with its popularity. It won Bam's Book of the Year and even has an upcoming screen adaptation from Fuzzy Tree Entertainment. The story follows Carl as the apocalypse begins, and he must survive the newly transformed Earth after alien invade and take over. The book is a well-paced thrill ride and with seven books out so far, I cannot wait to continue my trek with Carl and his ex-girlfriend's show cat Princess Donut. Oh, and don't worry Princess Donut is the real star of the show, but I'll give her own post later as its what she deserves.

Happy Reading and thank you for checking out my holiday recommendation series! Thanks for visiting the Nest!
